I saw Rodrigo y Gabriella at Bonnaroo this summer, and they were amazing. It is amazing what they could do with their instruments. They should be your number one if for no other reason than that.
From what I've heard, "Neon Bible" by The Arcade Fire is the album of the year, but like Radiohead, it's too alternative for me and I haven't been able to appreciate such music.
It wasn't a very good year for new music.
However, there were some good tracks on new albums by Anberlin, Jimmy Eat World, and the Kaiser Chiefs...but nothing especially brilliant.
